May 2020 weekly update.. Maynia progress May 11th through the 17th

Hi everyone,
It's time to share what I've been up to this week.

I had planned to get a few more starts... and more stitching on my projects...but I had a wrist injury while out with Macey...nothing broken...just very bruised...so I've had to limit my activities - sorry if my photos are a bit blurry - hopefully next time it will be better.

I have my patterns with fabric ready to go...but have to gather threads and hoop/q-snaps and they are stored in a separate area.

Last month I stumbled across Colour & Cotton website. I joined the thread club - (5 neutrals) and I joined the fabric club. Well my floss (April) arrived on Saturday! Such lovely colors. I'm looking forward to my next shipment.

Still waiting on some other April orders. And a few ETSY order from this week.

Happy to see our feathered friend returned on May 14th. He was a little late... but I'm sure the snow and colder weather kept him South. This was the latest I recall seeing them.

It was raining when I took this... It looks like he wanted the shower.

Until next time,
Have a wonderful day!

May 2020 weekly update.. Maynia progress May 4th through the 10th

Hi everyone,
It's time to share what I've been up to this week.

I'm a little late posting this because I've been trying to figure out how to show what I've worked on. I spent a small amount of time most mornings working on a wip or one of my recent Maynia new starts. And Mr. Frog came for visit...more than once... Here's my progress for the week.. in no special order.

Maynia New Start #3
No picture of the project as it is a chart only in the cookbook.

Not too much progress to show... I outlined the main color of the body of the dog begging... got to the finish and had to frog one side as it was off by a stitch at the bottom. Then I re-stitched it and this time it lined up. I wanted to add in the color for dog ear, muzzle and hip/foot. It calls for GAST chamomile...ugh!  my skein is too greenish.. I don't want a dog with a green ear...so rip..rip..rip...and replaced with....harvest basket...nope....caramel corn...nope...woodsmoke...too grey... finally settled on DMC 938.

Maynia New Start #4
I forgot more than once I was stitching this over 1.. so Mr. Frog came back again...

I've been thinking about a winter colorway for this... might have to see if my idea of a color scheme works.
Stitch Count: 125 x 5, 2 over 1
Cross Stitch

May 7th,
Not much stitching today - but I didn't plan on getting much time for it today because...Today is Mom's 81st  Birthday.
So I spent most of the day cooking dinner for her & Dad. (Dad's birthday was the end of April.)

Mr. Frog is back.. or he never left....after stitching part of the top variegated flower, I realized that this flower and the right blue border flower and leaves (top and bottom) were in the wrong place... so rip...rip...rip...

This lovely wooden needleminder from Joseph's workshop.

Earlier this week...went on an errand to get Dad's meds...drove to pharmacy about 30 miles South... picked up scripts.. went to start car... wouldn't start... tried again.. still nothing... Called DH.. tried again to tell him every detail.. and after a long delay...it started.. drove back home to local mechanic instead of picking up groceries... Was told it's  the key's computer chip... Called about my 2008 Jeep key.. I have to bring it in so they can test the key and ignition system.. Just got back from Jeep service today... and I need a new key/fob...Computer Chip is fried. New one on order.. should be here in a week. In the meantime, I'll use the spare key that is DH's.

Our hummingbirds are late... we usually see them in very early May.. not this year... Why?

May 8th & 9th...
Yes..that's  snow! We had some snow Friday night and most of Saturday.

Much too cold for our feathered friends.

We also had a nice sunset early in the week

Until next time,
Have a wonderful day!

End of April 2020 Weekly update & the start of Maynia

Hi everyone,
It's time to share what I've been up to this week.

Stitching:
This week I  started with this WIP
Floral Cross  © 2003 Jeanette Crews Designs No. 1251 Decorative Crosses by Ursula Michaels
Fabric: 14ct Navy Aida
Threads:DMC, Kreinik #4
Substituted: #102 kreinik for the 221, also blended 336 with 340 1 strand each, and 931 for 930.

Maynia
May 1st
I've never taken part in Maynia..but this year I thought I'd see what happens. I had made some preliminary plans  listed  some charts and wips that I wanted to work on this month...but some of my orders from early April still haven't shipped.

My plan is to put one strand of a color on one of my projects each morning.. then in the afternoon work on my designated project. So this morning I put a few more stitches in the floral cross...then I looked at my list and chose one that was ready to go.

New Start

Summer Posey (kit) © 2020 Jeanette Douglas Designs
Fabric: 40ct Flax
Threads:Gloriana Threads Tudor Silks (OMG) these are so lovely to stitch with - my first time using these. There is a DMC alter. listed for all but one of the colors.
Stitch Count: 55 x 60, 1 over 2
Cross Stitch

My progress for today...

May 2nd
I finished a  leaf on the JDD Summer Posey - just a few stitches. (picture above was taken  after I added those stitches)

I planned on a different start - but one of my threads went missing.. WDW Oak. Since there are only three colors in the pattern - I set it aside until I find my missing skein.

I was planning to work on this one later in the month...so the new plan is to find my missing thread and then start the BBD Hat's Off to Uncle Sam on that later date.

This WIP was last seen February 2nd, 2020.

Today I added the aqua around the house. Fabric is closer to the picture above.

Diggity Dog House © Michelle M. Lash Brittercup Designs
Fabric: 32ct Waterlily Jobelan
Threads:WDW except for the aqua where I used DMC
Stitch Count: 74 x 74, 2over 2
Cross Stitch, backstitch, longstitch, french knot

May 3rd
Today's new start is not much to show...It was 78 ° F today and the sun was shining. Too beautiful to stay indoors and stitch. So we got the pool ready for opening... Cleaned out the pump house..checked it over for winter damage.. brought chemicals down... hooked up the hose ... Have some concrete spalling damage by our gate.. will have to fix that when the temps get nicer.

Took Macey on multiple walks... and enjoyed the warmth for the short term. The crocus have been out most of this week.. hyacinths and daffodils just started to bloom today. The next 10 days we will be back to normal with temps in the 40-50's and cloudy/rainy.

Added a few more stitches to Floral cross and Summer Posey. Then settled down to sort the threads for this new start

Progress for today... hopefully the white on white shows up in the picture.

April 2020 weekly update, week 1

Hi everyone,
It's time to share what I've been up to this week.

Stitching:
This week I picked up 4 projects. I took a break from the 40ct silk gauze ChrisMoose berry - but will be back to it soon. I was just on my way outside to do some more spring cleanup but the rain came in earlier than expected.

I guess that means today will be some more stitching or sewing.

Completed another 8 blocks of color on

Stash:
Nothing new this week.

Sewing:
Working on making a face covering (mask) with ties - I have a latex allergy so no elastic bands. Tried making  a different one on Friday. Like my first version better although both of them seem too close to my eyes. Will re-adjust pattern and try again this weekend. County just North of us now requires face covering whenever out in public..so it's just a matter of time and since I do the shopping for Mom &Dad and have prescriptions to pick up, I'm trying to get prepared.

Macey has been enjoying lots of extra walks on the property and all the new smells that come with the snow melt and new ground that has opened up for walking. I even saw just a hint of the hyacinth bulbs peeking through. Time to get the rake out to clear away the rest of the snow and leaves.

Until next time,
Have a wonderful day!
