Hi everyone,
It's time to share what I've been up to this week.

Stitching:
This week I picked up 2 projects.

Sunday evening I was browsing through the new Nashville Happiness is Homemade 2020 Cookbook and found that I want to stitch a few of the charts... I gathered up supplies for this cute squirrel

I was going to FFO a few things today but it is a dreary rainy day and our spare bedroom/my sewing room light is poor on days like today. So I have been spending today putting away some of my threads.

Monday I took Dad to Dr. as he injured his foot and they needed to keep an eye on the healing. Happy day as the wound healed to 1/2 of the original size, and Dr. released him. Stopped at the grocery store...picked up some necessities for Mom and Dad and a few things for DH & I... Couldn't get DH his favorite yellow bag of chips...The ride back home was interesting as it was snowing when we went South. Got home through snow and slushy roads...My car had a nice layer of ice on it. We were only supposed to get around 3". We got 10+" of heavy wet snow. So much for starting the spring cleanup of downed branches and leftover leaves.. they are all covered over from lots of lovely white snow. Still snow on the ground today but it has started to rain and the snow is melting. Makes for slippery walks with Macey though.

This week we also spent time getting our taxes done and e-filed.

Sewing:
Looking at online patterns for a mask for Dad as he has a compromised immune system and Dr. appointments coming up. Hope they either get re-scheduled or the virus gets contained by then. Just in case of an emergency, sewed one as a sample. Have to make adjustments so it fits him. Probably should make myself one.. and will have to use fabric strip ties  as I have a latex allergy and elastic is not my friend.

Until next week,
Have a wonderful day!

Fabric: 14ct Navy Aida
Threads:DMC, Kreinik #4
Substituted: #102 kreinik for the 221, also blended 336 with 340 1 strand each, and 931 for 930.

Stitch Count: 80 x 80, 2over 1 and 3 over 1 in a few places
Cross Stitch, Back Stitch, fractional stitches, blended threads

After working on it this week

On Friday I picked out a new start...One of the silk gauze berries - I spent part of the day locating my mat board... cut it... then couldn't find my masking tape.. tried using painters tape... After the first few stitches, nope didn't work...gauze came loose from the tape.
So I dug out my muslin fabric and did what I should have done the first time & zigzag stitched around the edge of the silk gauze & then cut out the window area and put it in a hoop. Much better!

I did contemplate stitching this over one on 40ct linen... maybe I will sometime in the the future.

Not much progress as it took me awhile to get this ready for stitching. Then I spent most of today frogging as I started the wreath and birds in the wrong place.

Stash:
I was a lucky winner of an envelope of charts giveaway from a fellow stitcher.
I was delighted to receive:
Bent Creek: Quaker Noel Row
Imaginating: Lighthouse Welcome

Crossed wing collection: Blue-Throated Hummingbird & Bee Hummingbird

Mar Nic: Love by the Garden Gate & Gonna be a Bear

Silver Lining: A Bed of Roses
Vickery Collection: You say it's your birthday

Stony creek: Christmas Ornaments IV & State Birds

Sue Hillis: Dark Shadows
Cricket Collection: Frost (#173)

Macey: Heard the Canadian geese returning North this week. Seems to prefer the snow to the bare patches of ground that are slowly appearing. Snowbanks are still high enough that she hasn't seen the deer at the pond yet on our outings. That will change soon. Hopefully she will not want to do much more than bark at them.

Until next week,
Have a wonderful day!

Hi everyone,
March came in like a lamb... sunny and cool temps in the mid 20° F.

This is a more realistic color of the fabric.

A sampling of our unusual weather...

03/01: sunny and cool temps in the mid 20° F

03/02: dusting of snow last night.. stayed around freezing for most of the day.. slightly warmer in the evening.

03/03: temps climbed to high 40's.. snow slid off the garage roof - at least the side closest to our house. Rain started up early evening. It's been difficult walking Macey. My feet are slipping even on the trails we've made.. when she goes off the path.. my feet drop through the layers of snow and ice.. ending up with snow still above my knees. Still quite a bit of snow on the ground.

03/04: temps climbed to 40 then cooled off. flurries, scattered snow showers, and some sleet today.

03/05: temps in the high 30's and parts of the driveway are no longer encased in more than 1" of ice. we even have small areas of ground visible.

03/06: Woo Hoo! The first robin sighting... it's officially almost spring..now only three more bad storms. Temps were in the low 30's.. but the sun came out for awhile.
Heard the coyotes tonight when I took Macey out. was hoping they wouldn't be around yet. Time to be extra vigilant on our nightly walks.

03/07: Cooler today. not much melting but we did make it above freezing for a few hours.

03/08: sunny and temps climbed to the 40's. A Few more bare patches but a lot of ice to walk across to get to them.

Sewing:

March birthday girl received her peek-a-boo pouch.

Time to get things together for the April birthdays.
