May 2020 Maynia weekly update May 18 through 24th

Hi everyone,
It's time to share what I've been up to this week.

#7 Finished! (week of 5/24)
This was from a freebie that I received with an order
Thankful Chalk© 2015 by Cathy Habermann of Hands On Design
Fabric: 32ct  Wichelt Chalkboard Black
Threads: GAST
Stitch Count:71 x 26, 2 over 2
Cross Stitch

I thought I was on the way to another finish... (I wanted the Q-snap for another project) ...I stitched the rest of the top border.. added in the first word. Hmmm... Something looks a bit off...Oh No! I miscounted between the second and third flower on the top.. So Rip...rip... rip...out the word sweet and everything on the left of the third top flower... over 1 on 28ct...ugh!!

By Thursday I re-stitched the rest of the top border and the left side again...just about to start the words... Ugh....my re-stitched border is off by a stitch.. (Different one this time the vine)...it looks wavy.  So back to ripping out.. I really shouldn't stitch when my eyes are tired... Macey was barking at 3am... I also heard neighbor's dog barking.. so something must have been on the property...  I am feeling the lack of sleep today... Once I've ripped out the stitches for a second time, I think this will go in a time out.

So here is where it stands now...

Sweet is The Journey ©2007 My Big Toe Designs - *Modified Spring Colorway
Fabric: 28ct ivory evenweave
Threads: WDW...I only had 1 of the called for weeks for the spring colorway...I have all the colors for Autumn..but since it's spring......I dug through my DMC..pulled the 62 and 3363 and then went back through my overdyes to come up with Sophie's Pink and Dried Sage.
Stitch Count: 125 x 5, 2 over 1
Cross Stitch

I lost my bookmark when I went to to car dealer last week. Hopefully whoever found it will get good use from it. I found my pattern and planned to re-stitch it as it was one of my favorites. I looked through my camera cards and I never found a picture of it fully finished... Saw several others that I finished that I don't have pictures of...hmmm...guess that another project to get done.

Maynia New start #9 and Finished! (even after Mr. frog returned)

I think I used up my charms... so I might have to go on ETSY and look for another set to use to finish this one. I know I still have the paw print fabric and ribbon.

Maynia New start #10 - I've had this one kitted up for so long...

STASH:
These lovely handmade pins from an Etsy shop

I plan to use them for finishing of Alpaca Farm (Blue Flower Designs) still waiting since 4/22 for my order from Beach Cottage Stitchers for the finishing supplies for this one.

Then another Etsy order arrived on Friday...
I had ordered the new Heartstring samplery Flanders Fields Biscornu
The 36ct WDW Confederate Gray (613)...(So different in color from my older Zweigart Confederate Grey close to DMC 928), A few WDW Threads..and a Lady dot create chenille trim in musket.

Yesterday I went shopping to pick up some groceries for Mom.. stopped in at Walmart and saw this kit...just couldn't resist

Janlynn kit - God bless America

Still waiting for a few orders to ship placed in  early and mid April...

This week ordered a special chart from one shop and the special fabric from another site for a gift for DH. He is missing his sports.. so I found this pattern from cross stitch wonders.. and thought that would make a lovely birthday/anniversary gift.

Look who came to visit (oriel)... and yes that the hummingbird feeder she landed on.
And we had another visitor this week...

 And later...

Now that the daffodils have finished blooming, the bees have been busy with our crabapple trees.

Speaking of bees, we had temps in the 80's yesterday and had 4 large yellowjackets on our closed in porch... they must have gotten in while unloading groceries or coming in with Macey.

I hope to have a few more projects started this coming week. I have to get my new Jeep key programmed on Tuesday. I might have a dental cleaning visit on Wednesday.. not sure if it is open yet as my dentist is located 4 counties South of us (about 100 miles) - and I'm not sure what opening phase they are in. I still have to finish my May birthday girls peek a boo pouches...just have to sew them together and get them on their way in the postal system.  I hope that things improve with the postal system.. I am still waiting for Mom's birthday and Mother's Day gift that was shipped in early May and still hasn't arrived yet.

DH's reclined power switch stopped working this am... called about servicing it and was told that they can't come inside until HOPEFULLY around June 1st.. and then they'll call to schedule a time... At least it is almost fully down when it happened.. but it's going to be a long couple of weeks waiting for that call and then the part.

Until next time,
Have a wonderful day!

March 2017 (Spring is in the Air) + April 2017 ( Easter treats)

Hello everyone,

It's been awhile since I posted...Life has kept me busy.

March came in like a lamb... and then turned into a lion all in the first day! Mid-month (Pi Day) brought snow (almost 2 feet) with blizzard conditions that came with the coastal storm. March ended like a lion with winds, rain, and snow flurries.

The weather has been bouncing.. some warm days then a cool patch... then slowly warming up again... We have green grass and our trees are starting to shoot. The crocuses, hyacinths, and daffodils have been opening up in the past week. Last night we had another frost, so it's much too early to begin planting anything other than the snow peas.

I took part in another ornament exchange - this one was Easter themed.

My partner CC (Australia) stitched me this beautiful waxing moon design - bunny egg mini.
So beautifully stitched and finished....I just adore it!

The backing fabric is just as lovely.

We mailed our parcels on the same day March 20th... Her parcel to me arrived before Easter...Around April 8th. The package I mailed her took the long route to it's destination - and only arrived a few days ago.

The design I stitched for  CC was from Book #107 Just Hatched © 2003 The Prairie Schooler
Fabric: 32ct Ivory Evenweave
Threads:DMC
Stitch Count:64 x 54, 2over 2
Cross Stitch
I also made her a little pincushion with the same design..

I found a cute bunny bead so that meant making a scissors bling, and I attached a magnet to this cute little wooden chick to make a needle minder.

Then I found this cute fabric with easter eggs, and dug out some white bunny buttons, and... voila...finished this cute ort container.

Since my package was apparently lost, I started in on another Easter design to mail out as a replacement and was just finishing it up this week when I got the word that she received my package.

Threads: DMC

Other stitching for March & April was this lovely design that will either be a small bookmark or an ornament.

And, I finished up another bookmark...an older freebie...

Fabric: 18ct antique white
Threads: DMC
Stitch Count: 34 x 114, 2 over 1

As I mentioned in my last post, I started a spring stitch...I still haven't finished it yet...I have to dig out my other skein of oatmeal and just haven't had the time to go through my kitted up patterns.

Fabric: 32ct Desert Sand
Threads: GAST, Wisper
Stitch Count: 68 x68, 2 over 2
Cross Stitch, Back Stitch, Eyelet Stitch

New Stash: I caved... I saw the cute new Spring in a Mouse House design and ordered the series... and while I was at it,  the Rosebud Tweet flew into my shopping cart along with Frony Ritter He Arose.

Then I got an email - I won this chart during the online needlework show. This will be a lovely tribute piece. I have the fabric ordered and hope it gets here soon.

And lastly, I received my final kit in the Silver Needle stitching circle of friends round 2.

My brother's contract job has ended and he stopped in for a short visit before heading southwest. We celebrated his May birthday before he left.

My niece went to France & Italy - and was in Paris during the recent events. So glad she is safely home.

Dad continues to heal and sees a quite a few of his specialists this month, And his birthday celebration was at the end of last month.

Tomorrow I'm cooking a special meal as this week is my Mom's birthday and she asked for her favorite dessert... I decided a whole meal delivered would give her a nice treat.

Samantha is doing fine.. although she continues to have flare ups of the colitis... still treating each episode until they become so close that we need to keep her on the medication permanently.

Until next time,
Have a wonderful day!

April Stitch from Stash update

Hello everyone,
Thanks so much for all your wonderful comments. My email was down for a bit but it seems to be fixed now.

The first week of this month our robins finally arrived... and they brought friends... We woke up to hearing delightful sounds coming from our pond.  We had a pair of ducks arrive for a few days. They left when the temperatures warmed up. Now the delightful sounds we hear are from the frogs. Bucky and Samantha can't figure out where all the peeping is coming from.

Now, for my monthly update for my stitch from stash hosted by Mel at Epic Stitching. This month I spent most of my time working on the model stitching piece. I still have a bit more to go until it is done.

I did finish the stitching on 2 smaller pieces that I keep in my travel bag.

First up is this lovely JBW Designs Joyeux Noel Stocking from Stockings full of Joy booklet #114 Designed by Judy Whitman  © 2003
Fabric: 28ct Antique White Cashel
Threads: GAST, Kreinik #4
Mill Hill Beads
Stitch Count: 69 x 23, 2 over 2

Next is this Blackbird Designs Mr. Turkey Stocking from Thankful November booklet Designed by Barb Adams  © Blackbird Designs 2009
Fabric: 30ct R&R Reproductions Ligonier Latte
Threads: Crescent Colors, GAST, Weeks Dye Works
Stitch Count: 45 x 73, 2 over 2
I was good and did not spend anything on stitching this month. I can't say the same thing for my DH.

He surprised me with this Easter basket.
Did you notice the chocolate bunny is a baseball bunny - that is because DH loves baseball. I usually fall asleep when he has a game on - or I go to my stitching chair and work on a project.

Do you see the pattern hidden behind the chocolate bunny?

Well, there were several patterns hidden inside the larger one.
Stacy Nash Primitives Big Dog Sewing Pouch,
Stacy Nash Primitives Pomegranet Sewing Tray,
Just Nan Oh Deer! with the deer pin,
JBW Designs Alphabet Dogs,
Stitchy Kitty Toadally Nerdy,
And the Victoria Sampler Woodland Birdies.

I mentioned that I was surprised that he didn't include any baseball patterns - He didn't know about any. Hmmm... guess what will be in next gift basket? LOL!

I surprised DH with a basket filled with a few books by Ted Bell and James Patterson, a few movies - one was a baseball movie, and some of his favorite candies - Wint-o-green Lifesavers and Starburst.

Until next time,
Have a wonderful day!

Another JBW finish

Hello everyone!
Oh my - time is flying by. I meant to post last week...bur life got in the way.
Then this past weekend we took advantage of the nice weather and spent most of our days cleaning up the gardens and lawn. Amazing how many tree branches and limbs were down.

Here is my finish for the week:
© 2009 JBW Designs
Fence Tree from Christmas Tree Collection IV
Fabric: 28ct Fairy Dust
Threads: WDW
Mill Hill Beads

Stitch Count: 30 x 36, 2 over 2

Don't you just love the cardinal at the bottom of the tree? Well- look who visited this week. Our cardinals are back...and yesterday we saw a few goldfinches.

Still waiting for the hummingbirds to come. It's still a bit too cold for them. We usually don't see them until the 2nd week in May - but I heard they are early this year.

I've been stitching away on my exchange piece. I had started in early April before I got my partner's info, but once I did, I decided on something else that was more suitable. It took a week to get my fabric and a few missing  threads so I've been stitching away (since April 19th) trying to complete my project as it has to be mailed out by the 8th of May. I still have about 600 stitches still to complete...

Have a wonderful day!

Christmas finishes already?

Hello everyone,

Spring is slowly arriving - the snow is melting, the birds are chirping, and we have been making plans for our big project this year. Enough time has passed since my FIL has passed away, so this year we are planning to convert his bedroom into a den for DH. Hopefully we will get started in the new few weeks as the weather improves. There is so much to be done- add shelves to the closet for storage, remove carpet floor and replace with a hardwood floor, paint walls and ceiling, install wainscoting, change lighting fixture, replace the 2 windows, and make some floor to ceiling bookcases for him. This is after we completely clear out the room.

Our other big project is to replace our living room tv system that died just before Christmas.

This month I think I'll be sharing with you some Christmas ornaments that I have finally finished. Some have been in my finishing basket for quite awhile - I just did not have enough time to finish them - until now. I think I'll share one each week since this month I'll be working on an exchange. I also hope to continue to work on one of my HAED's.
