June 2020 weekly update week end June 28th

Hi everyone,
It's time to share what I've been up to this week.

Stitching:
A new start! I found this kit while I was sorting through some older stash.

Here's my progress - some of the covered bridge and a bit of the large orange Maple leaf.

jiffy kit 16650 Bridge in Autumn © 1996 Dimensions, Inc
Designed by Karen Marie Zabroski
Fabric: 16ct dove grey Aida
Threads: included in kit
Stitch Count: 110 x 78
Cross Stitch, half cross, back stitch, french knots

Added the rest of the blocks of color to this one - just have the border in black and all the backstitching still to do. Lots of fractional on the top so it'll take awhile.

Cross My Heart Inc.CSB-73 © 1992  Between the Pages Designs by Nancy Klipfel
Stained Glass Window
Fabric: 18ct cream aida
Threads: DMC
Stitch Count: 28 x 98, 2 over 1
Cross stitch, back stitch, Fractional Stitches

Stash:
Nothing this week.

Other:
My week was quite busy-
Sunday I spent putting away some threads and scanning through a few magazines & digging out a few kits. I planned to start a new project on Monday but I spent the day trying (to no avail) to find my title for my 12 yr. old Jeep.  I had DH's vehicle title.. but mine wasn't there.. So the better part of the day was spent going through file folders hoping that it was misfiled instead of being put away with all the important paperwork... NOPE! So now I'll have to request a replacement. I picked up my new Jeep on Tuesday - back to monthly payments but I'll still have a little left over for stash (and fudge brownie M&M's). Heat wave started to break on Wednesday - so it was a day shopping for Mom & Dad. Thursday was sealing our driveway.  Friday was local errands and Saturday was the weekly dump run. Rain came in last night and today is hot and very humid. Looks like another week of HHH *Hazy, hot and humid.
Looking forward to a much quieter week.

Until next time,
Have a wonderful day!

June 2020 weekly update week end June 21st

Hi everyone,
It's time to share what I've been up to this week. It's been warm here. Summer has come and it is very dry. Temps have been in the high 80's °F.

Stitching:
I have a finish! I left off the little pink rectangle as I didn't want to add the double heart brass charm that came with it.

Diggity Dog House © Michelle M. Lash Brittercup Designs
Fabric: 32ct Waterlily Jobelan
Threads:WDW except for the aqua where I used DMC
Stitch Count: 74 x 74, 2over 2
Cross Stitch, backstitch, longstitch, french knot

And a little progress on:

America Chart No. One © 2003 Little House Needleworks
Fabric: 32ct Silkweaver Classics Limited Edition Color
Threads: DMC
Stitch Count: 80 x 108, 2 over 2
Cross Stitch, backstitch

I picked this up and realized that after adding another color (yellow)  that I don't like the bulky coverage so I will rip it all out and re-start it using 1 strand over 2 instead of 2 over 2 - just not right now.
Lighthouse Welcome designed by Ursula Michael  ©2007 Imaginating, Inc.
Fabric: 40ct white Newcastle Linen
Threads: DMC
Stitch Count: 82 x 166, 2 over 2
Cross Stitch, Backstitch, Fractional Stitches

Instead, I dug through my bag of projects and worked a little on this one...The gaps in the gold and burgundy was because I ran out of floss and didn't want to go downstairs looking for a new skein of 783 & 815. I grabbed them last night after walking Macey.

I added the blue, gold, burgundy and green to both sides.

Stash:
My Just Cross Stitch Magazine arrived on  Monday.. so I had something nice to look at.

My Colour & Cotton Monthly (May) package of threads finally arrived on Tuesday.. it was a few days late.. but look at these lovely colors: Nickel, Marsh, Hazel Brown, Rusted Tin, and  Créme Brulee. I will have to wait until July for the next shipment from them as they are skipping the June shipment while they wait for the base Fabric & Floss.

Friday  I placed an order with an ETSY seller for some hand-dyed fabric as I wanted to change out the white aida for something beach-y blue for the seguin charts/kits I recently got.

Other:

Late night walks with Macey have been interesting -
The lightning bugs have appeared.. Macey sees the glow and  heads in that direction.. but then the glow is somewhere else...and we're off to investigate in the new direction... watch out for the trees! (LOL!)
We've also been seeing frogs on the driveway which she has to investigate.. And she's still getting used to the sounds of the peepers coming from the pond now that it is warmer.
The beautiful Luna moths have made an appearance - and the other night one was fluttering just outside her reach for a few minutes. They are quite the sight to see.

The birds have been busy planting flowers in new places..

Daisy by the burning bush

Pansy among the columbine

And the other flowers that are showing up...

The dandelions and clover.

Until next time,
Have a wonderful day!

Happy Haul day on Friday...

My fabric order from Stitchery Xpress (ordered May 20th) arrived.
This is Fabric Flair Meadow View (for the Baseball subway art chart by Cross Stitch Wonders)

I was putting away an older pattern (Cape Elizabeth Light by Seguin Designs) that we picked up on our honeymoon in Maine more than 22 years ago. I stitched it for a co-worker friend of DH's long ago. I checked online for the designer.. and found several  more lovely charts.. and kits... and a sale so I ordered some at the beginning of this week - and they arrived in the same week!

Whitehead Island Light chart
Puffin chart
The Cottage Quilts chart

The Lobster Boat kit
The Lobster Shack kit

Funny thing is that these both arrived a day early and the one I've been waiting for that was due to arrive on Friday is late and somewhere between the West coast and the East coast.

Saturday was another happy haul day!
Last month I signed up for the thread and fabric of the month from Colour and Cotton.
My May FOTM arrived.
The color is Swiss Coffee 13"x17" size of the 40ct Linen  & 28ct Lugana.

Other:
Peek a boo Pouches for May were received.

No June birthdays.. so the next ones I show will be July.

Monday evening I brought Mom & Dad some groceries... went to leave their house and my 2008 Jeep wouldn't start... Local mechanic towed  it the next am. Seems there is a problem with the wiring in the steering wheel so it looks like I will have to start looking for a replacement.

I forget to get photos of the flowering almond bush this year - but it was lovely...

Lily of the Valley

Wisteria

What's left of the azaleas..as you can see the deer had a nice snack this past winter

This one is almost fully opened

Close up

As you can see..only a few blossoms have fully opened

This is a smaller one that we only planted a few years ago by one of the burning bushes

Until next time,
