Fabric: 28ct ivory evenweave

Threads: DMC, GAST and CC

Third time is a charm...I had to frog twice as each time I started, it was in the wrong place as I had my fabric folded on my Q-snaps instead of cutting it. So only about 30 minutes of stitching shown even though I stitched for 2 hrs.

May 2020 Maynia weekly update May 25 through 31st

Hi everyone,
It's time to share what I've been up to this week. Not much Maynia Stitching.

I spent some of the time this week sewing my peek a boo pouches.

I've also been spending my nights organizing my magazines and patterns. Then I would search my stash for fabric to use with them and they would be my focus the next day instead of working on the planned patterns that I had partially kitted up (Fabric and charts.. just no threads).

#8 Finished!

Bee Well © 2020 The Blackberry Rabbit freebie available here
Fabric: Mystery scrap of R&R
Threads: DMC
Stitch Count: 54 x 52, 2 over 2

Sweet is The Journey ©2007 My Big Toe Designs - *Modified Spring Colorway
Fabric: 28ct ivory evenweave
Threads: WDW...I only had 1 of the called for weeks for the spring colorway...I have all the colors for Autumn..but since it's spring......I dug through my DMC..pulled the 62 and 3363 and then went back through my overdyes to come up with Sophie's Pink and Dried Sage.
Stitch Count: 125 x 5, 2 over 1
Cross Stitch

Maynia summary...
It wasn't bad for my first time.. 10 new starts... 4 finished,  and a little bit of progress on a few wips.
I had a few that I couldn't start ...
My fabric order from April 3rd still hasn't shipped - so Sewn in Frienship by Heartstring Samplery & Plum Street Samplers as well as where Liberty Dwells by Hands on Design did not get a start. Also, waiting on a few threads for The Blue Flower - Alpaca Farm.

I also ordered (mid-April) a twin peaks primitive chart in the I'll be home series June (With the dogs) - I was planning to change the month to August for our adoption of Macey.

I had ordered a small piece of  fabric picked out for Lynn Graebner Designs Syrupin' - floss worked with it.. but I forgot to get the larger size that I needed.

I remembered why I hate using the spring hoops.. need to find all my Q-snaps for next year.

I also had a few full coverage designs but the charts are in color.. need to do them when my eyes aren't so watery from the high pollen counts.

Stash:
My baseball pattern from cross stitch wonders that I showed last week arrive.. now waiting for the special cut of fabric for it.

Other:
We're still having a hornet issue... not sure why - it seems like warm temps and end of day have been bringing them to our enclosed porch. Door is open longer when taking Macey out and back in again.. so they might be coming in behind us.But I'm pretty sure it's the heat and the ground was very dry until the rain on Friday.

Tuesday I went to pick up my replacement key fob for my 12 year old Jeep. Very hot week.. temps in the 80's. Doesn't seem real that we had snow earlier this month.

My dentist did call.. my appointment was cancelled as his office is not yet re-opened.

I did get my May birthday gifts mailed out. Hopefully they'll get there quickly so I can share them next week.

Our lilacs have opened

Our Mountain ash berries are just starting to show up.. looks like this year there won't be a lot of berries... (Every other year is the bumper crop)

And our apple trees are in full bloom.

The Azaleas have just started to open.. Hopefully I'll have a pic next week.

Our county has just started to reopen (phase 2). That means that June will start to be a busy month with Dr. visits for Mom & Dad .. and other appointments for us.

Macey's dental (2 teeth pulled and cleaning) will be in July as that was the earliest date the vet had available

Until next time,
Have a wonderful day!

May 2020 Maynia weekly update May 18 through 24th

Hi everyone,
It's time to share what I've been up to this week.

#7 Finished! (week of 5/24)
This was from a freebie that I received with an order
Thankful Chalk© 2015 by Cathy Habermann of Hands On Design
Fabric: 32ct  Wichelt Chalkboard Black
Threads: GAST
Stitch Count:71 x 26, 2 over 2
Cross Stitch

I thought I was on the way to another finish... (I wanted the Q-snap for another project) ...I stitched the rest of the top border.. added in the first word. Hmmm... Something looks a bit off...Oh No! I miscounted between the second and third flower on the top.. So Rip...rip... rip...out the word sweet and everything on the left of the third top flower... over 1 on 28ct...ugh!!

By Thursday I re-stitched the rest of the top border and the left side again...just about to start the words... Ugh....my re-stitched border is off by a stitch.. (Different one this time the vine)...it looks wavy.  So back to ripping out.. I really shouldn't stitch when my eyes are tired... Macey was barking at 3am... I also heard neighbor's dog barking.. so something must have been on the property...  I am feeling the lack of sleep today... Once I've ripped out the stitches for a second time, I think this will go in a time out.

So here is where it stands now...

I lost my bookmark when I went to to car dealer last week. Hopefully whoever found it will get good use from it. I found my pattern and planned to re-stitch it as it was one of my favorites. I looked through my camera cards and I never found a picture of it fully finished... Saw several others that I finished that I don't have pictures of...hmmm...guess that another project to get done.

Maynia New start #9 and Finished! (even after Mr. frog returned)

I think I used up my charms... so I might have to go on ETSY and look for another set to use to finish this one. I know I still have the paw print fabric and ribbon.

Maynia New start #10 - I've had this one kitted up for so long...

STASH:
These lovely handmade pins from an Etsy shop

I plan to use them for finishing of Alpaca Farm (Blue Flower Designs) still waiting since 4/22 for my order from Beach Cottage Stitchers for the finishing supplies for this one.

Then another Etsy order arrived on Friday...
I had ordered the new Heartstring samplery Flanders Fields Biscornu
The 36ct WDW Confederate Gray (613)...(So different in color from my older Zweigart Confederate Grey close to DMC 928), A few WDW Threads..and a Lady dot create chenille trim in musket.

Yesterday I went shopping to pick up some groceries for Mom.. stopped in at Walmart and saw this kit...just couldn't resist

Janlynn kit - God bless America

Still waiting for a few orders to ship placed in  early and mid April...

This week ordered a special chart from one shop and the special fabric from another site for a gift for DH. He is missing his sports.. so I found this pattern from cross stitch wonders.. and thought that would make a lovely birthday/anniversary gift.

Look who came to visit (oriel)... and yes that the hummingbird feeder she landed on.
And we had another visitor this week...

 And later...

Now that the daffodils have finished blooming, the bees have been busy with our crabapple trees.

Speaking of bees, we had temps in the 80's yesterday and had 4 large yellowjackets on our closed in porch... they must have gotten in while unloading groceries or coming in with Macey.

I hope to have a few more projects started this coming week. I have to get my new Jeep key programmed on Tuesday. I might have a dental cleaning visit on Wednesday.. not sure if it is open yet as my dentist is located 4 counties South of us (about 100 miles) - and I'm not sure what opening phase they are in. I still have to finish my May birthday girls peek a boo pouches...just have to sew them together and get them on their way in the postal system.  I hope that things improve with the postal system.. I am still waiting for Mom's birthday and Mother's Day gift that was shipped in early May and still hasn't arrived yet.

DH's reclined power switch stopped working this am... called about servicing it and was told that they can't come inside until HOPEFULLY around June 1st.. and then they'll call to schedule a time... At least it is almost fully down when it happened.. but it's going to be a long couple of weeks waiting for that call and then the part.

Until next time,
Have a wonderful day!

May 2020 weekly update.. Maynia progress May 11th through the 17th

Hi everyone,
It's time to share what I've been up to this week.

I had planned to get a few more starts... and more stitching on my projects...but I had a wrist injury while out with Macey...nothing broken...just very bruised...so I've had to limit my activities - sorry if my photos are a bit blurry - hopefully next time it will be better.

I have my patterns with fabric ready to go...but have to gather threads and hoop/q-snaps and they are stored in a separate area.

Last month I stumbled across Colour & Cotton website. I joined the thread club - (5 neutrals) and I joined the fabric club. Well my floss (April) arrived on Saturday! Such lovely colors. I'm looking forward to my next shipment.

Still waiting on some other April orders. And a few ETSY order from this week.

Happy to see our feathered friend returned on May 14th. He was a little late... but I'm sure the snow and colder weather kept him South. This was the latest I recall seeing them.

It was raining when I took this... It looks like he wanted the shower.

Until next time,

May 2020 weekly update.. Maynia progress May 4th through the 10th

Hi everyone,
It's time to share what I've been up to this week.

I'm a little late posting this because I've been trying to figure out how to show what I've worked on. I spent a small amount of time most mornings working on a wip or one of my recent Maynia new starts. And Mr. Frog came for visit...more than once... Here's my progress for the week.. in no special order.

Maynia New Start #3
No picture of the project as it is a chart only in the cookbook.

Not too much progress to show... I outlined the main color of the body of the dog begging... got to the finish and had to frog one side as it was off by a stitch at the bottom. Then I re-stitched it and this time it lined up. I wanted to add in the color for dog ear, muzzle and hip/foot. It calls for GAST chamomile...ugh!  my skein is too greenish.. I don't want a dog with a green ear...so rip..rip..rip...and replaced with....harvest basket...nope....caramel corn...nope...woodsmoke...too grey... finally settled on DMC 938.

I've been thinking about a winter colorway for this... might have to see if my idea of a color scheme works.
Stitch Count: 125 x 5, 2 over 1
Cross Stitch

May 7th,
Not much stitching today - but I didn't plan on getting much time for it today because...Today is Mom's 81st  Birthday.
So I spent most of the day cooking dinner for her & Dad. (Dad's birthday was the end of April.)

This lovely wooden needleminder from Joseph's workshop.

Earlier this week...went on an errand to get Dad's meds...drove to pharmacy about 30 miles South... picked up scripts.. went to start car... wouldn't start... tried again.. still nothing... Called DH.. tried again to tell him every detail.. and after a long delay...it started.. drove back home to local mechanic instead of picking up groceries... Was told it's  the key's computer chip... Called about my 2008 Jeep key.. I have to bring it in so they can test the key and ignition system.. Just got back from Jeep service today... and I need a new key/fob...Computer Chip is fried. New one on order.. should be here in a week. In the meantime, I'll use the spare key that is DH's.

Our hummingbirds are late... we usually see them in very early May.. not this year... Why?

May 8th & 9th...
Yes..that's  snow! We had some snow Friday night and most of Saturday.

Much too cold for our feathered friends.

We also had a nice sunset early in the week

Until next time,
Have a wonderful day!
