Weekly update August 30th 2020

Hi everyone,

Time for my weekly update..

Stitching:
More stitches added to this one...I started some of the backstitch (stream stones, one of the leaves and part of the covered bridge) as I have to move the fabric in my QSnap to fit in the tree on the right side.

Women of the Mayflower complete kit arrived! I got the package with the girl needleminder. Even though I order the complete kit, I still might swap out the fabric.

Mom grew up in a small town south of Boston about an hour from Cape Cod.

My brother had to do a genealogy project in 5th grade. We found that one branch of the family arrived on the ship The Jonathan.

I stopped in at Barnes & Nobel on Tuesday when my Dad was having eye surgery - It was in the adjacent plaza to the grocery store... I hadn't been there since last summer / fall.  I picked up a couple of cross stitch magazines for me and a book series for DH & me.

2 issues of cross stitch crazy

cross stitcher and the bead magazine had a nice cuff bracelet pattern

I also had 3 separate packages of beads arrive this week. Here they all are.. I put them on their sides to see the beautiful colors as the labels cover most of the tubes. the baggie in the back is a larger size package (25gm).

Monday evening Macey just had her dinner & I was getting ready to take her for a walk. DH mentions that I should wait a few minutes...2 does in the yard under the crabapple trees... so I grab my camera to get a pic and sneak out the back door.. Look toward the apple trees out back & see this visitor... Got a few pics of him - never did sneak around to get a photo of the 2 does.

Tuesday was 2nd eye surgery for Dad This time it was a later surgery. we left at 7am for an 8:25am surgery. Mom needed a few things from Walmart... so I traveled a bit further (7 miles) South & got her items instead of waiting in the parking lot & stitching.

Wednesday was follow up at Dr. Office for Dad after the eye surgery - left at 8 am for a 9:20am appointment.

We had a beautiful sky Thursday morning when I got up to walk Macey. So glad I saw it as our later walk was very wet due to the heavy rain.

Early Saturday morning.. Macey went out -we opted for a pre-dawn walk as it was going to rain... (no rainbows this week)... so at 4 am we were out..flashlight in hand... just walking along and all of the sudden we were snorted at... Mr. Deer must have been feeding on the apples and were too close. Saturday afternoon there was a buck eating the crab apples out front.. and later in the evening  we had a flock of about 20 turkeys in our front yard...they took to flight when they spotted us coming out for a walk.

This morning, a few hours ago, I was walking Macey and as soon as I came in we had 3 does in the field.

Wednesday was follow up at Dr. Office for Dad after the eye surgery -
Thursday was his Covid test at the surgery facility. (2nd surgery is next Tuesday) Then some grocery shopping on the way North.

The tent caterpillars have been bust- nests have been showing up in many of the trees.

Macey has been licking/chewing her foot - Not sure if it's due to allergies (hayfever -ragweed season) or because she stepped on a bee and got stung (not the first time). I couldn't find a stinger... she limped at first.. but seemed okay within a very short time. We'll talk to the vet next month when she goes for her annual check and lyme booster shot.

The snowball bushes are just starting to turn..see the pink?

Until next time,
Have a wonderful day!

While waiting in the car on Tuesday during Dad's first eye surgery, I worked on this...then worked on it a few more times during the week.

I wanted something simple as I knew it would be hot in the car and a long wait. I alternated between this and reading a book..so it made the waiting a bit easier.

Dad's eye surgery on Tuesday...we left at 5:00 am for a 6:20 surgery... It was a very foggy drive as the humidity had cranked up a few notches...Dad was ready to leave for home a few minutes before 9 am.

Wednesday at 8:40 was follow up at Dr. Office for Dad after the eye surgery - at least this visit was a more reasonable time to leave (7:30). Stopped at the grocery store and superstore on the way home to reduce all my traveling. Both are in the process of being renovated so things are not where they were on my last shopping outing. Some things still aren't available..but I did manage to find the 1-4 cup coffee filter baskets for my parents & DH.

Our Snowball bushes (trees) have started to open up...they are still in the green to white phase...closer to fall they'll soften to a pale rosy color and by then our burning bushes will be blazing with color.

We had a few showers...this was at the end of one of them...

Until next time,
Have a wonderful day!

Weekly update August 9th 2020

Hi everyone,

Time for my weekly update.. here's what I've gotten done - Very Little!

I planned to have the whole day Friday for Stitching... but when I walked Macey at 4:45am, I noticed a 'calling card' that indicated there must be a toad on our enclosed porch.  So most of Friday was spent cleaning... and moving some things.. finding that a few things needed to be fixed.. etc...
We store our garden hand tools, salt/sand mix for winter, shovels, towels in a plastic tub for when we are caught in the rain....and a few other items on the porch...Saturday went to hardware store for some hangers for when we store our hummingbird feeders and windsocks this fall, and a replacement door sweep, and I picked up a storage 3- cube cabinet to make things a little neater. Still did not find the toad...another calling card...but I still have a little more cleaning/clearing/fixing to do.

Just a few more stitches added to this one...

Celebrated her 1 year adoption this week.

Other:
This week's errands:
Dad's primary Dr. for surgery approval. Recent bloodwork was missing from his file..so had to get it off the portal on his PC and bring it back to Dr. office.
My dentist for a long overdue visit..replace a filling & a cleaning, Traveled in tropical storm Isaias to get there and back.. not fun.. 90 miles each way in heavy downpours and strong wind gusts. My car alerted me on the way South.. heavy winds and a tornado watch...Luckily no tornados in my travels.
Wednesday was a quiet day
Thursday was Dad's pre-surgery Covid test - had to travel about 1.5hour South to have test done at the facility where he will have his surgery next week.

Until next time,
Have a wonderful day!

Beading
I took a break from stitching early this week. I had to clean up some of my buttons and beads that were piling up on the far end of our dining room table. Once the area was neat and clean, I started another seed bead bracelet cuff purchased from the ETSY shop Beadingpatterns2013 that will be finished as a bookmark.I'm not as far along as I would have liked... about 40% completed. My thread knotted and I struggled with it... finally cut it and had to weave in a new length... but I wasn't paying attention because I started to unweave it and it was zipping apart.. ugh.. guess I was too tired that night.
