Happy Haul day on Friday...

My fabric order from Stitchery Xpress (ordered May 20th) arrived.
This is Fabric Flair Meadow View (for the Baseball subway art chart by Cross Stitch Wonders)

I was putting away an older pattern (Cape Elizabeth Light by Seguin Designs) that we picked up on our honeymoon in Maine more than 22 years ago. I stitched it for a co-worker friend of DH's long ago. I checked online for the designer.. and found several  more lovely charts.. and kits... and a sale so I ordered some at the beginning of this week - and they arrived in the same week!

Whitehead Island Light chart
Puffin chart
The Cottage Quilts chart

The Lobster Boat kit
The Lobster Shack kit

Funny thing is that these both arrived a day early and the one I've been waiting for that was due to arrive on Friday is late and somewhere between the West coast and the East coast.

Saturday was another happy haul day!
Last month I signed up for the thread and fabric of the month from Colour and Cotton.
My May FOTM arrived.
The color is Swiss Coffee 13"x17" size of the 40ct Linen  & 28ct Lugana.

Other:
Peek a boo Pouches for May were received.

No June birthdays.. so the next ones I show will be July.

Monday evening I brought Mom & Dad some groceries... went to leave their house and my 2008 Jeep wouldn't start... Local mechanic towed  it the next am. Seems there is a problem with the wiring in the steering wheel so it looks like I will have to start looking for a replacement.

I forget to get photos of the flowering almond bush this year - but it was lovely...

Lily of the Valley

Wisteria

What's left of the azaleas..as you can see the deer had a nice snack this past winter

This one is almost fully opened

Close up

As you can see..only a few blossoms have fully opened

This is a smaller one that we only planted a few years ago by one of the burning bushes

Until next time,
Have a wonderful day!

May 2020 weekly update.. Maynia progress May 11th through the 17th

Hi everyone,
It's time to share what I've been up to this week.

I had planned to get a few more starts... and more stitching on my projects...but I had a wrist injury while out with Macey...nothing broken...just very bruised...so I've had to limit my activities - sorry if my photos are a bit blurry - hopefully next time it will be better.

I have my patterns with fabric ready to go...but have to gather threads and hoop/q-snaps and they are stored in a separate area.

Last month I stumbled across Colour & Cotton website. I joined the thread club - (5 neutrals) and I joined the fabric club. Well my floss (April) arrived on Saturday! Such lovely colors. I'm looking forward to my next shipment.

Still waiting on some other April orders. And a few ETSY order from this week.

Happy to see our feathered friend returned on May 14th. He was a little late... but I'm sure the snow and colder weather kept him South. This was the latest I recall seeing them.

It was raining when I took this... It looks like he wanted the shower.

Until next time,
Have a wonderful day!

May 2020 weekly update.. Maynia progress May 4th through the 10th

Hi everyone,
It's time to share what I've been up to this week.

I'm a little late posting this because I've been trying to figure out how to show what I've worked on. I spent a small amount of time most mornings working on a wip or one of my recent Maynia new starts. And Mr. Frog came for visit...more than once... Here's my progress for the week.. in no special order.

Maynia New Start #3
No picture of the project as it is a chart only in the cookbook.

Not too much progress to show... I outlined the main color of the body of the dog begging... got to the finish and had to frog one side as it was off by a stitch at the bottom. Then I re-stitched it and this time it lined up. I wanted to add in the color for dog ear, muzzle and hip/foot. It calls for GAST chamomile...ugh!  my skein is too greenish.. I don't want a dog with a green ear...so rip..rip..rip...and replaced with....harvest basket...nope....caramel corn...nope...woodsmoke...too grey... finally settled on DMC 938.

Maynia New Start #4
I forgot more than once I was stitching this over 1.. so Mr. Frog came back again...

I've been thinking about a winter colorway for this... might have to see if my idea of a color scheme works.

May 7th,
Not much stitching today - but I didn't plan on getting much time for it today because...Today is Mom's 81st  Birthday.
So I spent most of the day cooking dinner for her & Dad. (Dad's birthday was the end of April.)

This lovely wooden needleminder from Joseph's workshop.

Earlier this week...went on an errand to get Dad's meds...drove to pharmacy about 30 miles South... picked up scripts.. went to start car... wouldn't start... tried again.. still nothing... Called DH.. tried again to tell him every detail.. and after a long delay...it started.. drove back home to local mechanic instead of picking up groceries... Was told it's  the key's computer chip... Called about my 2008 Jeep key.. I have to bring it in so they can test the key and ignition system.. Just got back from Jeep service today... and I need a new key/fob...Computer Chip is fried. New one on order.. should be here in a week. In the meantime, I'll use the spare key that is DH's.

Our hummingbirds are late... we usually see them in very early May.. not this year... Why?

May 8th & 9th...
Yes..that's  snow! We had some snow Friday night and most of Saturday.

Much too cold for our feathered friends.

We also had a nice sunset early in the week

Until next time,
Have a wonderful day!

March 2020 weekly update, week 4

Hi everyone,
It's time to share what I've been up to this week.

Stitching:
This week I picked up 2 projects.

Sunday evening I was browsing through the new Nashville Happiness is Homemade 2020 Cookbook and found that I want to stitch a few of the charts... I gathered up supplies for this cute squirrel

I was going to FFO a few things today but it is a dreary rainy day and our spare bedroom/my sewing room light is poor on days like today. So I have been spending today putting away some of my threads.

Monday I took Dad to Dr. as he injured his foot and they needed to keep an eye on the healing. Happy day as the wound healed to 1/2 of the original size, and Dr. released him. Stopped at the grocery store...picked up some necessities for Mom and Dad and a few things for DH & I... Couldn't get DH his favorite yellow bag of chips...The ride back home was interesting as it was snowing when we went South. Got home through snow and slushy roads...My car had a nice layer of ice on it. We were only supposed to get around 3". We got 10+" of heavy wet snow. So much for starting the spring cleanup of downed branches and leftover leaves.. they are all covered over from lots of lovely white snow. Still snow on the ground today but it has started to rain and the snow is melting. Makes for slippery walks with Macey though.

This week we also spent time getting our taxes done and e-filed.

Sewing:
Looking at online patterns for a mask for Dad as he has a compromised immune system and Dr. appointments coming up. Hope they either get re-scheduled or the virus gets contained by then. Just in case of an emergency, sewed one as a sample. Have to make adjustments so it fits him. Probably should make myself one.. and will have to use fabric strip ties  as I have a latex allergy and elastic is not my friend.

Until next week,
Have a wonderful day!
Lisa M.
